Travel more for less: 5 tips

Posted on June 18, 2020 — 9:49 am

We at yuilop are a well traveled international group, and we’re all about no-cost lifehacks. With summer upon us, we teamed up with our like minded friends at Only-apartments to put together some easy tips that could end up saving you a lot of money.

  • Download yuilop.  Avoid roaming bill shock when you get home by turning of data and using yuilop over WiFi for all your calls and SMS abroad. You can even leave your mobile at home and set up yuilop on your iPod or tablet. Your yuilop.me number lives in the cloud, so it will follow you. Cool!

  • Book an apartment with Only-apartments. They have over 20,000 apartments worldwide, some as low at 10€ per person per night!

  • Plan a picnic. Of course you’ll want to eat at the local restaurants too, but there is something so special about picking up some produce at the local market and having a picnic in the park, on the beach, or even on a bridge - we’re thinking Pont des Arts in Paris. Oh la la!  And on a rainy day, we suggest you cook a feast back at your in your fully equipped kitchen - thanks to Only-apartments.

  • Ask for tap water. Many travellers feel safer drinking bottled water, but in most cities these days tap water is just fine. Here in Barcelona, for example, ask for agua del grifo. You’ll get a glass of water, and you won’t pay a centimo.

  • Go to a museum. People often forget that museums have free days or free hours. Did you know that the Museums in Washington D.C. are always free? So look for these special deals before you go, and take a photo - more museums are finally allowing you to take pictures inside - of your visit and send it to your friends, via yuilop of course!

Here’s to your safe and ‘save’ travels!
