20 years ago SMS was born. In the very first SMS Neil Papworth, Vodafone technician, wrote “Merry Christmas” to his boss, starting a new way of 1992 of communication in England.

The service was used by telephone companies to send brief technical communications to customers and soon became an effective way to connect briefly, it also allowed to save on your phone bill. It is estimated that around 500,000 million SMS are sent each year.
Papworth, used a computer to write his first SMS and it was sent to a mobile phone via GSM network, the first text message from mobile to mobile was sent by a Nokia intern in early 1993. Today the use of SMS is attacked by the possibility of new smartphones to communicate with each other using applications, but SMS still has the advantage to be sent between any type of mobile devices and also without any internet connection.
